Foundation SA Donor Event

On Monday 14 November, Foundation SA hosted a celebration event, thanking the families, individuals and businesses who have joined the giving community since launching 18 months ago.

Fifty donors attended the event at the JamFactory Adelaide featuring a special viewing of artist Peter Walker’s exhibition ‘Tanglewood’.

Nikki Hamdorf, Partnerships Manager, JamFactory and Jim Carreker, founding donor of the FUSE Glass Prize and Residency shared their perspectives on the benefits of working with Foundation SA to create an endowment for long-term support of glass artists in South Australia.

“After first being involved with the Silicon Valley Community Foundation we knew the advantages of the model. Community foundations give you the benefit of time. They offer donors the ability to give now and take the time to decide where to donate those funds,” said Jim Carreker, FUSE Glass Residency Endowment Fund.

The Foundation SA community of giving so far comprises 20 donor-advised funds, with pooled funds currently sitting at $1.4 million.

“It has been wonderful to see the generosity of donors impacting a variety of cause areas including: first nations youth education, the environment, arts and culture, food relief, poverty alleviation and community building initiatives”, said Stacey Thomas, CEO, Foundation SA.

This is the first in a series of annual donor events, showcasing a diverse range of South Australian based organisations working to support communities to thrive.
