Foundation SA is entering a new era of growth and independence with the installation of our inaugural Board and the roll out of our latest five-year strategy.
Since our establishment in 2021, Foundation SA has experienced phenomenal growth. Our 2026-2031 strategy reflects the refinement and evolution of our role in growing community-led philanthropy in South Australia and captures our ambitions to deepen our impact.
As a young community foundation, backed by generous support from The Wyatt Trust, Foundation SA will continue to explore, learn, adapt and iterate.
“Foundation SA is helping to build a movement that gives so many opportunities for passionate and enthusiastic people to make a contribution and have impact,” says inaugural Chair, Jennifer Duncan.
“The new DGR1 status and Community Charity designation gives community foundations new capabilities which opens up a new period of exploration and innovation,” Jennifer continues. “We want to be able to do things differently for the best possible outcome, so that we can deepen the impact our individual donors and we as a collective can make.”
With the transition successfully underway to bring all governance and administrative functions to Adelaide, Foundation SA CEO, Sophie Doyle, says the foundation is ready to step into self-determination.
“Thanks to the support we’ve received over the last five years from our implementation partner and trustee, Australian Communities Foundation, we’re in a very strong position to make the transition to independence.
“The time is right to make the change, particularly with our new five-year strategy setting out the blueprint for the next chapter of our growth and impact as a statewide community foundation.”
Our three guiding principles
Our principles guide how we work with communities, donors and partners to build a stronger ecosystem for community-led philanthropy in South Australia:
- Authentic relationships: we work collaboratively to connect resources with communities
- Empowering others: we create relationships that empower communities to define and act on their own priorities
- Continuous learning: we grow through shared learning
